School of Business Student Success Center

Located on the first floor of the Beatty Center, the Student Success Center is comprised of the SBE Academic Advising and Career Services Offices.  The Student Success Center strives to support the SBE mission to aid our student’s in their quest “to attain the knowledge and skills necessary to remain lifelong learners and managers and to be socially responsible in the global economy” by providing the supplemental resources and support for a successful academic career.

The Student Success Center further supports the College of Charleston’s Academic Advising and Planning Center’s mission “to create an atmosphere in which students can discover their potential, set and reach individual goals, explore and plan appropriate academic programs of study and prepare for their declaration of major” within the School of Business.

The Student Success Center provides undergraduate students with resources and information to assist in the development of an academic plan that ensures a successful and timely academic career.  Academic advising and career counseling are also available to guide the student during their undergraduate experience at the School of Business. 

Academic Advising Office
Every student wishing to major in a School of Business program of study is required to complete specific admissions criteria and declare their major in person in the Student Success Center.  The Director of Advising then conducts individual and group advisement sessions to ensure that all School of Business students receive accurate information regarding school and college policies and requirements for the successful completion of their program of study and graduation. 

Career Services Office
The SBE Career Services Office provides information on professional development events in the Charleston area.  The office also provides supplemental resources regarding career paths, job search skills, professional etiquette and other career-related topics. 

The SBE Career Services Coordinator is available to meet individually with students to develop career plans, explain job search tactics, review resumes and cover letters and to conduct mock employment interviews. 

The SBE Career Services Office also coordinates the SBE Internship Program.  Our partnerships with local businesses and organizations provide professional work experiences that enhance our academic programs, allowing our students to build and apply real world business knowledge.  A successful internship gives students a competitive edge over students with no related work experience.
