The School of Business has 63 full-time faculty, 19 adjunct faculty, and 19 support staff. Our intended students are well rounded students who are effective problem solvers, committed to high professional standards, and prepared to succeed in a global business environment. As of spring 2009 the School of Business (SBE) had 957 majors and 734 pre-declared majors. Pre-declared students have not completed the admissions criteria but have indicated that they intend to pursue one of the majors in the SBE. The SBE also offers six minors that non-business administration majors may take. These include the following with the spring 2009 enrollments in parentheses: business administration (65), economics (29), finance (42), global logistics & transportation (3), hospitality & tourism management (36) and leadership change & social responsibility (0). There are seven concentrations that business administration majors can declare. These are as follows with the number of spring 2009 enrollments in parentheses: entrepreneurship (47), finance (96), global logistics & transportation (5), hospitality & tourism management (26), leadership change & social responsibility (24), marketing (145), and real estate (17).
Additionally, from May 2006 to the present, data shows that approximately 11 percent of our students double major in either BADM/HTMT or ACCT/BADM. Three to four business students per year other than INTB majors earn a second major in a foreign language and on average six INTB majors earn a second major in a foreign language per year. On average 47 SBE graduates per year (other than INTB majors) earn a minor in a foreign language.
Internships are an important component of a quality business learning experience. From first contact during admissions and orientation events and continuing through advising and classroom contact, all students are encouraged to participate in an internship. For-credit internships are available to students who have earned at least 90 credit hours and not-for-credit internships are available to students with less than 90 earned credit hours. The internships are competitive with a structured academic component. Students must prepare résumés and for the interview process. During the 2008/09 academic year 120 seniors participated in for-credit internships.

The trend toward more non-resident students in the SBE programs has been steadily increasing. In fall 2003, 63 percent of SBE students were SC residents and as of spring 2009, 51 percent are SC residents. However, it is important to note that as a pubic institution the State Legislature mandates 60 percent of students enrolled at the Institution should be in-state. The SBE has followed the trend of the Institution as a whole with increasing enrollments of women in the business programs. Spring 2009, 53 percent of SBE students were women. Approximately 66 percent of the UG students enrolled at the College are women. Diversity is an issue that the Institution as a whole as well as the SBE is committed to improving. Enrollment of non-white students in the SBE averages 13 to 15 percent. Within the SBE the Accounting Program has excelled at encouraging diversity of the student body in its program with 20 to 25 percent of the student population being non-white. During fall 2008 approximately 14 percent of SBE students were non-white which is slightly lower than the Institution's non-white enrollment of 17 percent. Approximately 16 to 17 percent of foreign students enrolled at the Institution have declared a major in the SBE. Excluding undeclared students, only the School of Science and Mathematics has a higher number of foreign students at 18 percent. As of spring 2009 for the SBE the average SAT score for graduating seniors was 1167 and average GPA was 3.16.

The results of the Senior Survey administered by the SBE Director of Career Services to all seniors in the Business School's capstone courses during fall and spring semesters follows. The survey is not administered during the summer sessions and represents approximately 40 to 60 percent of the total number of graduates. The results provide an indication of career preferences and expected salaries for our graduates.
