I. Thesis Statement
Formally state your thesis. The statement must contain all the elements found in a correct thesis statement.
II. Form
The bibliographic citations must be compiled in correct and consistent MLA format.
Each entry should be arranged under one of three basic classifications:
A. Books
B. Periodicals
C. Other Sources
Each entry should be spaced accordingly:
A. Double space the lines of the bibliographic
citation itself.
B. Leave a blank space between the citation
and the annotation.
C. Double space the lines of the annotation.
D. Leave two blank lines between each
complete entry.
III. Sources
A. Four (4) books or essays in books.
B. Six (6) periodical articles.
C. Two (2) encyclopedia articles
D. Three (3) books reviews.
IV. Annotations
An annotation is a short description of a book or a journal article.
For this assignment, please describe how the content of the book or article
relates to your topic. Also, please note how you found the source (Catalog?
Index? Bibliography?) and then critically evaluate its usefulness in terms
of recency, the author's credentials, the presence of a bibliography, and
other criteria which you feel are important. You do not need to read all
your sources. Rather, you should refer to the table of contents, preface,
and index. Keep the annotations to a reasonable length. One well-worded,
well-constructed, well-considered paragraph is sufficient.
