Minutes (Feb. 1928-Dec.1929): Handwritten in
ledger book by Mrs. S. Janess, Annie S. Altman, Anna Turteltaub, Muriel
S. Rittenberg and Esther Krawcheck; topics include: membership drives,
entertainment provided at meetings, donations to other organizations, civic
accomplishments, tension between Hadassah (national) and Zionist organizations,
conventions, discussion of United Palestine Appeal; financial reports,
fundraisers, sewing circle, "showers" to acquire goods for various organizations
(linen, baby, etc), election of officers. Also membership list and list
of officers and executive board members for 1928-1929; glued to back inside
cover are two typed letters (1928): from National Organization of Hadassah
re. participation in the United Palestine Appeal; from Nathan and Lina
Strauss to National Conference of Hadassah re. support of Zionism. Both
have been photocopied. |

Reports (1928, 1940): Annie Altman’s handwritten
report (18 pages) on proceedings of the 14th National Convention
of Hadassah (June 27, 1928) in Pittsburgh, PA; contains discussion of Hadassah’s
participation in the United Palestine Appeal and responsibility as members
of the Zionist organization. Mrs. Florence Mendelsohn’s, (President of
Charleston Chapter of Hadassah,) year-end report for Oct 1939-Sept. 1940;
provides detailed account of civic activities, fundraising events, conferences,
internal matters, etc. |
