The Instructional Technologists at the College of Charleston support the faculty and the institution’s core values by integrating educational technology with pedagogy and assessment to advance effective and innovative instructional practices. We offer individual assistance, a variety of training courses, on-line resources, and workshops to assist faculty who wish to enhance teaching and learning with technology in their instruction.

The Faculty Technology Center is a center for faculty where they can learn new technologies and methods, and develop instructional materials for their courses. The center is available for faculty to use independently or with the school's Instructional Technologist. The Faculty Technology Center (FTC) offers its resources at no charge for CofC faculty who intend to use the services to support teaching. This center is located in JC Long room 317. The primary goal of all Faculty Technology Institutes are to teach faculty how to use technology more effectively to improve learning in the classroom. The breadth of instruction allows participants to select what will work best in their various classes and faculty graduates produce at least one course enhanced with technology when they complete the institute training. In addition, graduates participate in research projects aimed at determining student satisfaction at the introduction of the new teaching methodologies. This allows the College to better serve its student population. At the same time, the institutes establish an environment where faculty can explore ideas with peers from other departments often leading to new approaches to teaching with technology.
