About Toastmasters
Toastmasters International is a worldwide non-profit professional development organization formed to help people around the world improve their listening, leadership, and speaking skills. Benefits include increased confidence in performing speeches and other presentations in public and an improved personal image, increasing chances of recognition and promotion in professional and other settings.
Toastmasters International is organized like a corporate chain of command, with different levels of support covering different areas: Headquarters, regions, districts, divisions, areas, and clubs.
The Toastmasters program is a series of steps a member takes to ultimately earn the title of Distinguished Toastmaster, the pinnacle of achievement in the Toastmasters educational program. A member completes a series of projects, to include reading speech manuals and giving speeches, as he or she progresses in the program.
The Toastmasters program provides two progression tracks. One track is based on leadership while the other track is based on communications. A Toastmaster can choose which track will be undertaken first, or both can be done at the same time. However, both tracks must be completed before a member can earn the rank of Distinguished Toastmaster. There is no time limit to complete each step of the program, so a Toastmaster can progress at his or her convenience.
