Fifty students from Buist Academy completed the Youth Leadeship Program, sponsored by the College of Charleston Toastmasters Club in Charleston, South Carolina. The program "facilitators" were Connie Fulton, Larry Fulton, Teresa Smith, Fred Watts, and Clarence Matthews. This is the second consecutive year that the College of Charleston Toastmasters Club has graduated students in this leadership program at Buist Academy.
A lack of personal communication skills in secondary schools has spawned an interest in the development of these skills. However, schools do not always have the resources to overcome this deficiency. The College of Charleston Toastmasters continues to be a positive influence helping today's youth acquire these skills.
